Publication Policy and Ethical Principles

AIS3 – Artificial Intelligence Studies in Society, Science and Systems; is an international, peer-reviewed journal that adheres to the principles of scientific integrity, transparency, and ethical responsibility in academic publishing. All works published in the journal are evaluated in accordance with the publication policies and ethical principles outlined below.

1. Publication Policy

Works submitted to AIS3 must:

be original,
not have been previously published anywhere else or submitted to another journal for publication,
be prepared in accordance with scientific methods and academic writing rules.

The journal follows a publication policy that covers theoretical, experimental, and applied artificial intelligence studies, particularly interdisciplinary research centred on the social sciences. Pure artificial intelligence studies and artificial intelligence-supported interdisciplinary applications are evaluated with equal academic value.

AIS3 embraces the principle of editorial independence in its publication processes. Editors do not consider factors such as the authors' institutional affiliation, academic title, gender, nationality, or ideological views when evaluating articles.

2. Peer Review Process

All articles in AIS3 are subject to a double-blind peer review process.
Referees are selected from among academics who are experts in their field and evaluate articles based on criteria such as scientific adequacy, originality, methodology, contribution, and ethical appropriateness.

Based on the referee reports, articles are concluded with one of the following decisions:

acceptance,
acceptance after revision,
re-evaluation,
rejection.

3. Research and Publication Ethics

AIS3 adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding publication ethics. Within this framework, the following ethical violations are strictly unacceptable:

Plagiarism
Fabrication or falsification of data
Duplicate publication
Salami slicing
Inappropriate authorship (gift or ghost authorship)

All submitted articles are checked using plagiarism detection software. If an ethical violation is detected, the article is removed from the review process or retracted if already published.

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence and Transparency

AIS3 requires transparency regarding the use of artificial intelligence tools in academic work. Authors are obliged to clearly state in the article if they have utilised artificial intelligence tools in the processes of:

text generation,
data analysis,
visual production,
coding or model development.

5. Conflict of Interest and Financial Support

Authors must clearly declare any potential conflicts of interest and financial support related to their work. Editors and reviewers are also obliged to report any circumstances that could compromise impartiality during the evaluation process.

6. Correction, Retraction and Complaint Policy

Significant errors identified in published articles are announced to the public through corrections (corrigendum) or retractions (retraction) where necessary. Allegations of ethical violations communicated by readers, authors or reviewers are carefully investigated and evaluated in accordance with COPE principles.
